Atelier populaire de l'ex Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Nous sommes le pouvoir (1968)
Serigraph on paper, bright pink and orange, made by the Atelier populaire de l'ex Ecole des Beaux-Arts (the popular workshop of the former Fine Arts School) during the French uprisings of May 1968 (43 x 53 cm | framed, 43 x 53 cm). "Nous sommes le pouvoir", "We are the power", symbolise workers' desire to exert a greater influence in the socio-professional chessboard, seeing themselves as the key compenent of companies.
The Atelier populaire de l'ex Ecole des Beaux-Arts comprised several artists who later became well-known artists. May 1968 serigraphs strike through the efficacity of their design and the efficacity of their messages, which are to be looked at in conjunction with the then political context. No one has been attributed the paternity of these serigraphs, as this was contrary to the collective spirit of the movement.
