Atelier populaire de l'ex Ecole des Beaux-Arts, ORTF en lutte (1968)
Serigraph on paper, made by the Atelier populaire de l'ex Ecole des Beaux-Arts (the popular workshop of the former Fine Arts School) during the French uprisings of May 1968 (framed, 43 x 53 cm). "ORTF en lutte - Indépendance", symbolise ORTF radio servants' will to obtain full independence from the political power, in a time where information is more controlled than ever.
The Atelier populaire de l'ex Ecole des Beaux-Arts comprised several artists who later became well-known artists. May 1968 serigraphs strike through the efficacity of their design and the efficacity of their messages, which are to be looked at in conjunction with the then political context. No one has been attributed the paternity of these serigraphs, as this was contrary to the collective spirit of the movement.
