Slam Dunk (1983-1986) | Japan | Japanese animation

The anime

Published in Weekly Shonen Jump between 1990 and 1996, Slam Dunk has been subsequently adapted in a 101-episode anime alongside four movies. It is the third Weekly Shonen Jump manga to sell more than 100 million volumes, alongside Kochikame and Dragon Ball.

It depicts the adventures of Hanamichi Sakuragi, an infamous high school student who takes on basket-ball to conquer a girl, which will ultimately lead him and his team to claim the national title.
